IThese ribbons are found on the island of Marken and form an integral part of the traditional costume of the women on this island in the former Zuiderzee (“southern sea”) in the Netherlands. I charted and reworked nine of these bands from my personal collection and worked them in the design that you see here. The illustrated 20-page booklet gives you information about the island of marken and how the traditional ribbons were worn. As there is backstitching around each of the bands, this design is not pattern keeper compatible.
