From the Designer:
Quakers belong to The Religious Society of Friends. Through their beliefs, activism, and empathy, they were at the forefront of the abolition movement and made considerable steps in psychiatric care. They took great importance in education for both boys and girls. At the Ackworth school in Yorkshire, girls were taught regular school subjects, but also created the now famous Ackworth needlework samplers.
When looking at those samplers from the late 18th and very early 19th century, we sometimes see that they were made as gifts from one Quaker girl to another. I really like the idea of gifting something made with love and attention. This relatively small design seeks to replicate some of the beauty found on those Ackworth samplers.
